Things are different. These days, it seems impossible to not come across devastating news with every click or conversation. Sometimes, it can be hard to remember what a big bear hug or a carefree laugh feels like.
However, I was recently reminded that gratitude and joy do not mean the complete elimination of sadness, fear, and confusion. Rather, gratitude and joy can and should exist in the same places where we are holding grief. So in the midst of this sadness, our little bit of joy today is found in what one of our oldest clients, Domenica Fiore, is doing to help communities near and far during this Covid-19 pandemic.
With their head office located in Vancouver and their olive oil estate located in Italy, Domenica Fiore’s focus on these two areas come as no surprise. In Italy, this incredible company has donated thousands of surgical masks, gloves, goggles and other protective equipment for healthcare workers on the frontlines.
In addition to their efforts in Italy, Domenica Fiore has started The Domenica Fiore Feeds Vancouver Campaign. This program donates 50% of the purchase prices of select olive oils to providing meals for those in need in Vancouver through The Giustra Foundation. Some of these most vulnerable citizens include seniors who do not feel safe going out to buy food, those in assisted living facilities that no longer have access to low cost food, and children who depended on meal programs from their schools.
Generous acts like these can go a long way. For this reason and so much more, we are proud to call Domenica Fiore a client and partner.
